Formula ATA | SEPTEMBER 7-10, 2006 - Balocco (VC)

Young geniuses challenge one other at Balocco

The technical racing competition is dedicated to universities students to encourage and reward them in their creativity attitudes, know-how and team spirit.

The event is divided into two different big competitions, which involve single seater racing cars (Formula SAE Italy) and two, three or four ecological wheeler vehicles (Formula Tech).

  • Formula SAE Italy
Since its first edition in 1981 in America, the event rises up a great success among engineering students from all over the world and every year it moves hundreds of teams which face many hard working hours and thousand kilometers to participate in these competitions.
Formula SAE allows the students to compete with the single seater racing cars, built by them (Class 1 for Team that compete with the complete vehicle) or the car project only (Class 3 for Team that present the car project only).
25 Teams are involved in the competition: 20 in Class 1 and 5 in Class 3, they will be judged by a Technical Committee composed by members coming from the international automotive world.

  • Formula Tech
It was conceived to highlight the ecological innovations, which are developed in the university worldwide, in the environmental sustainability field.
The event's aim is to involve universities students and young engineers in presenting new ideas or innovative solutions to reduce two, three or four ecological wheeler vehicles environmental impact.
15 Italian and foreign Teams are involved in the competition. Participants will be judged by a Technical Committee, whose members come from CIVES (Commissione Italiana Veicoli Elettrici Stradali), AVERE (European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) and WEVA (World Electric Vehicle Association).
The teams are divided in two categories: Class 1(electric battery or solar complete vehicles, fuel cell electric road vehicles - hybrids or not - fuelled with compressed hydrogen, thermal electric hybrid vehicles with one or more external energy sources) and Class 2 (systems and components, projects).
