DAKAR 2006 | DECEMBER 31, 2005
- JANUARY 15, 2006
After the positive experience of last year's event,
Motorsport Italia chose Iveco again as its partner to compete in this year's editions
of the world's most famous rally, entering a team that was even more varied and
competitive.
Seven off-road vehicles took part in the Dakar 2006: five competed
in the race while two provided maintenance back-up.

- The three Trakkers mounted the six-cylinder 12,800 cc Cursor 13 turbodiesel
engine together with a 16-speed ZF manual gearbox.
- The two Eurocargo vehicles,
on the other hand, were powered by 5,880 cc Tector six-cylinder engines and ZF
manual gearboxes.
FPT decided
to sponsor the adventure of Luisa
Trucco (Italy 2), the only woman on the team, who was competing in the Dakar
rally for the second time, having made her debut in 2005, when she took a promising
13th place in the truck category. In the past, she also competed in the Pharaohs
Rally in 2004, in which she took an excellent 4th place among the trucks.
